I forgot to share a while back my first time HIKING!! My sister and our other friend like to workout…me, not so much. After getting my first pair of running shoes since, I don’t know, highschool. I was like alright, I’ll join in. On top of that waking up before sunrise…on the weekend…-_______- maybe I will enjoy. Sounds nice. I was already tired that morning because I have crazy insomnia, I slept for about 3 hours that night. Yeah, I don’t even know how I woke up. Here is the information on the place we went:
Mount Woodson
City: Poway
Hike length: 6.4 miles
Estimated duration: 4.5 hours
Elevation Gain/Loss – 2300 ft.
Max Elevation Reached – 2855 ft.
Difficulty: Hard
Mount Woodson in Poway is not for the faint of heart. Beginning at the shores of Lake Poway, the trail greets hikers with a gently sloping, unpaved path, but it soon steepens and rarely shows mercy for the rest of the trek. However, from the top the views have been known to allow hikers to look over downtown, the Pacific Ocean and Mexico. Mount Woodson may not be for all, but it certainly rewards those who make the effort.
Wish I found this info prior…this is one of the hardest hikes and it KICKED my butt. I guess we went up the back way, a paved road up the mountain vs a dirt path. The incline didn’t look bad but it FELT omg, I was going to die. Out of breath, huffin and puffin, feeling faint. Everyone was having hard time, but not as much as me. I worked out muscles that were dormat for years lol. I did read though that there is a potato chip rock on the very top. That’s all I kept thinking about going up!

The potato chip rock, my sister is soo strong lol.

A butt crack looking boulder, there are so many boulders!!

I wish I took a picture on top of the rock, the view down was awesome. What was cool too there was a crazy fog layer it reminded me “Skypiea” if you’ve watched “One Piece” before lol. That’s the Pacific Ocean on the horizon.
I really did enjoy myself and it felt good! I wish I took better photos, but I was more worried about not passing out smh I would love to go hiking there again or try out the others. We ate breakfast after. I had a crab cake omelete mmm it was so good. The only thing is we ended up going to the mall RIGHT after. Jeez, I wanted to hide my face so bad lol.
